Our Paediatric 12 Hour Infant / Child First Aid Level 3 (VTQ)™ course is designed for anyone responsible for the care of babies and children. Delivered using a blended learning format, learners complete the online theory (Part 1) before attending a practical classroom session (Part 2), allowing more time to develop hands-on skills and confidence. This qualification meets the requirements of the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework and is suitable for Ofsted-registered childcare settings.

  • The role and responsibilities of a paediatric first aider
  • Assessing an emergency situation safely
  • Primary and secondary casualty assessments
  • Infant and child CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
  • Safe use of an AED on adults, children and infants
  • Recovery position
  • Choking in babies and children
  • Managing an unresponsive infant or child
  • Seizures (including febrile convulsions and epilepsy)

  • Anaphylaxis and the use of auto-injectors

Key Information

The course consists of 12 hours of learning, split between approximately 6 hours of online learning (Part 1) and 6 hours of practical classroom training (Part 2). This flexible approach allows learners to complete the theory at their own pace before attending the practical session. The qualification is valid for 3 years.
