First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ)
Our First Aid at Work Level 3 (VTQ) course is a comprehensive three-day programme designed for those who are responsible for providing first aid in medium to high-risk workplaces. It equips learners with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence to respond effectively to a wide range of medical emergencies, illnesses and injuries. The course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 for workplace first aiders.

What you will learn
Typical course content includes:
- The role and responsibilities of a workplace first aider
- Assessing emergency situations safely
- Primary and secondary casualty surveys
- Managing an unresponsive casualty
- Adult CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Safe use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
- Recovery position
- Choking
- Seizures (including epilepsy)
- Severe bleeding and shock
- Heart attack and angina
- Stroke
- Asthma
- Diabetes emergencies
- Anaphylaxis and the use of auto-injectors
- Burns and scalds
- Fractures, sprains and strains
- Head, neck and spinal injuries
- Chest injuries
- Eye injuries
- Poisoning
- Fainting
- Heat exhaustion, heat stroke and hypothermia
- Incident reporting, accident recording and infection prevention
By the end of the course
Learners will be able to:
- Assess emergency situations quickly and safely
- Deliver effective CPR and confidently use an AED
- Manage a wide range of workplace illnesses and injuries
- Treat life-threatening emergencies while waiting for the emergency services
- Understand the legal responsibilities of a workplace first aider
- Provide high-quality first aid with confidence in both workplace and everyday situations
