What you will learn
Typical course content includes:
- The role and responsibilities of a first aider
- Assessing an emergency situation safely
- Managing an unresponsive casualty
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Safe use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
- Recovery position
- Choking
- Seizures (including epilepsy)
- Severe bleeding and shock
- Minor injuries, including cuts, grazes and burns
By the end of the course
Learners will be able to:
- Recognise a medical emergency
- Assess a casualty quickly and safely
- Provide life-saving CPR and use an AED with confidence
- Treat choking, severe bleeding and shock
- Place an unconscious breathing casualty into the recovery position
- Know when and how to call the emergency services
